The Fun Food Chef Interactive Educational Experience
You may wish to use us for a half day, full day or even a week. Many Schools have used The Fun Food Chef to support health promoting weeks, diversity days and even science week activities.
The agenda is then down to you, I would liaise with your nominated point of contact and agree times, locations, activities and numbers of pupils and develop a package that meets your objectives. Some ideas that may well help follow below.
Going Greek
Many Schools are studying the Greek influence and history this year and we have put together by request a Greek session. This includes Greek food history, production and of course creating a meal including meatballs, Pitta bread, dips, drinks and much more. This is proving very popular.
Pizza Fun
The first & still most popular session that allows the children to create a complete meal from scratch including pizza using the fabulous Walk Mill Flour, Milkshakes and sweet. Check it out by following this link of the session at Gayton Primary School
Butchers versus the supermarket
Children make fresh breads from scratch incorporating theire own flavours. They then make a wonderful bolognese packed full of fresh vegetables and Italian flavour whilst pausing for thought on who they buy their meat from.
World War ll but with a Christmas Twist
Once again a school that had previously enjoyed our services contacted us recently to help support their classwork and project being reported to Wirral LEA. It involved the infant school children weighing ingredients then making fresh bread, producing war time meat balls and even a meatless meat ball. They also made fresh mince pies for a Christmas twist before looking at exactly what rationing meant during and after World war ll.
Around the world on carbohydrates
As over a quarter of our daily food intake should be carbohydrate. I will take your pupils through a gastronomic tour of the world with carb’s being the driver.
Pasta Fun
No better way to get your hands mucky and prepare a perfectly balanced healthy meal. The children can enjoy the hidden vegetables in the tomato topping all without preservatives and additives and then they can top them with their own choices. 5 a day and fun!
The Fruity Smoothie challenge
Compare and contrast the high street brands with my fantastic smoothies but can your children guess what went in what and how will the prices compare? This will help with their health and numeracy and perhaps their parents' pockets.
The eatwell plate
This will explain the NHS eatwell plate and allow the children to produce food they may already eat in a more balanced way. They will be able to take a more knowledgeable approach to choosing what they eat.
Doughtastic time.
More mess I’m afraid but there is no more exciting activity than making their own breads and inventing their own flavours from a bench full of ingredients. Oh yes then there is the tasting. This could be linked in to your own catering facility making their own bread with my support for all to taste over lunch.
World of Food
If you need a gastronomic tour of a region you are covering then I can help prepare a session that allows your pupils to interactively prepare food from that area. Whether it is Greek, Italy, Australia, Spain, Mexico, China or India I can help.
Fast food fun
This would include analysis of the fast food industry, nutritional content and the great fun you can have making your own Burgers to die for, chicken sandwiches and the truly fast food fish.
Wormery heaven, planting and eating.
From an environmental angle I can work with your staff and children in supplying and setting up a wormery to produce your own compost for your grounds or gardens. I can also assist in setting up raised beds that are capable of producing an exciting and varied crop in only 8 square meters of space. This will give your children a genuine from ground to plate to ground experience especially with a few giggles and wriggles along the way. Order Wormery
Harvest and eat.
Many schools have their own vegetable plots or herb gardens already. I can help you ensue your produce from these gardens are presented back to the children in a healthy, fun and tasty way.
Herbs and spices
This will allow the children to enjoy the wonders, taste and aromas of the ingredients that make food delicious. Each pupil will be able to pot and take home seeds to grow and use. This could also be linked to work being carried out in history. The children at Lyndale School enjoyed such a session last summer.
Nutritional Standards explained
I will explain the nutritional standards in brief so they gain an understanding of what they need in a balanced diet and why they are important.
